Answer»

I have ACCIDENTALLY deleted a FILE from my computer.  I am using an HP Pavilion Desktop PC (xe783).  The file I deleted was called "tapisrv.exe"  Now my computer won't ACCESS the internet.  What do I need to do?I am using Microsoft METry doing this.... Click Start -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore..... When you do this, make sure that you go BACK to THE DAY BEFORE you deleted the file.... Let us know what happens...

[glb]Flame[/glb]System restore does not fix this problem.  I am going to try to do a MSCONFIG and extract the file (tapisrv.exe).  Wish me luck!go to the msdos prompt c:\windows             now after it type this COMMAND scanreg/restore          a splash screen will appear answer yes to it??now chose the last good cab file....and windows will do the rest?or if no joy  post back>!The MSCONFIG worked!  This is how I fixed my problem:

1.  Click Start, Run
2.  Type MSCONFIG
3.  Click OK
4.  Select General Tab
5.  Click Extract file
6.  Type "tapisrv.exe"
7.  Click Start
8.  Type c:\windows\options\cabs in extract from
9.  Type c:\windows\system in extract to
10. Click OK
