Solve : corrupt file.....what do i do with it??

Answer»

my computer is flashing that i have a corrupt aol file....and to run the chkdsk utility. can i just deleate it...or will i break something??

thanksThat depends...

What AOL programs do you have installed?
What operating system do you have installed?
What is the exact wording of the ERROR MESSAGE you are receiving?i have a dell computer with windows xp. i never installed any aol files at all. the exact wording is

#2960: AOLSoftware.exe - corrupt file

the file of directory C:\Documents and Settings\RAC\Local Settings\Application Data\AOL\UserProfiles\1153017290\rac\metrics is corrupt and unreadable. PLEASE run the Chddsk utility.
Based on your RESPONSE...you may want to go into Add/Remove programs and look for any AOL software installed on your computer.

If you do not intend to use any of the AOL software installed, including, but not limited to AOL, AOL Instant Messenger, etc., etc...you may want to remove these from your computer.

Running chkdsk may not be necessary since removing these programs may fix the problem. If the uninstall process prompts you to save any USER files, uncheck the files so that they will not be saved.

Please post back with any results...that seemed to work....the message is gone. i deleated everything aol and then rebooted. chkdsk ran before my computer came back up. thank u soo much! You're welcome...

Glad I could help.
