Solve : Copied Files?

Answer»

How can you tell if files have been COPIED from your computer?Control access to it with a logon password to prevent it. No way to tell after the fact.    :-/

What kinds of files are we talking? Thanks, e-mail folders, word and excel documents. Set a trap, put a keylogger on it. [smiley=evil.gif]Fed, you devil.

A keylogger or SYSTEM logger is only going to allow you to see if someone on the computer has copied, viewed, and/or modified a file that is actually on the computer. If someone were to GAIN access to a computer from another computer I believe most (probably not all) keyloggers are not going to be able to log what that user does. Also unless it's a hardware keylogger (keylogger attached to the keyboard), booting into safe mode bypassess MANY keyloggers.

For this type of situation I woudl just recommend password protecting and/or encrypting the files you're concerned about. If he thinks someone has copied files remotely then he has more to worry about then if they did or not. Quote
