I have a Dell computer and Windows XP.  I have a Lexmark X73 which I have had on this computer for years.  It worked fine until recently.  I keep getting this stupid message on my screen (twice) each time I restart computer that says "Install new hardware wizard"  I have been trying to get this to go away for a year and I can't do it.  So, recently I decided to try to go through the wizard one more time to try to get it to go away.  Well,  after trying it not only did it not go away but it messed up my printer connection.  

I have uninstalled my printer and reinstalled it from the disk.  I have downloaded the driver from the Lexmark website.  I seems like the printer installed because the folders are there but on when I go to Controll Panel-Printers and Faxes and it is never there.  

WHY will the computer not show my printer.  I do not know what else to do.Sometimes printers, like all electronic components, just die. I would try this printer on ANOTHER computer to see where the problem lies. If it does the same thing when connected to another machine, just dispose of it properly.   Quote
