Do you have virus protection?

[glb]Flame[/glb]VALERIE:

Have you tried to disable the program from loading when Windows loads? To do so, follow these instructions:

1. Click Start > Run.  Type msconfig and press ENTER.

2. In the System Configuration Utility, select the Startup tab.

3. Clear the check-box next to init32m.exe (if PRESENT).

4. Click Apply and OK to apply the changes and close the System Configuration Utility.

5. Restart your computer.  When you receive a message that Windows is using the Diagnostic Startup, click OK.

If it is not found on the Startup tab, there are other places you may look where the program may be disabled.  Just let Flame or i know.

Hey, thanks for the info....the startup MENU wont even open though.    so that wont work.   any other ideas??  thanks!!

~vhUse your CTRL + ALT + DEL that will work to bring up Task Manager, then click New Task and enter msconfig in there.

VH:

Do you mean that when you type msconfig in the Run dialog box and click OK the System Configuration Utility does not appear at all? or do you mean that when you click on the Startup tab of the System Configuration Utility, you get an error message of some kind?

If you mean the latter, please WRITE the error message down and let us know every word.  If you mean the former, then let us know if the utility just doesn't appear or if you get an error message after clicking OK in the Run dialog box.  Then let us know all the words for that message.

Also, you may want to try restarting your computer in Safe Mode before you run msconfig.exe.  Let us know if you need help getting XP into Safe Mode.

Thanks!!  I can get to the msconfig box but I can't find this particular program in the startup list to disable it.  I can also restart in safe mode but once I get there I dont know what to do either.  Basically all the programs still will not load up and the same error message comes up when I log on so I don't know how to fix this.

Would re-installing windows help??  Although I have lots of stuff on the computer that I don't want to lose so this would be a sad option.

Thanks for the advice
OK init32m.exe is a spyware program.  Do you have any anti-spyware program that you can run?    If not you need to get one.  In the meantime you could download HijackThis from majorgeeks.com.  It will run from a floppy disk if necessary.  Run it, save the log, and post it hear, in multiple posts if necessary.

I checked out the site and it looks like there's lots of good stuff there, i downloaded the program (from another computer) and put it on a disk as a zip file.  But I can't get to my start menu and when i run a new task in the task manager it wont let me browse my drives or let me open the file on the disk.  so i dont know how i'm supposed to unzip this program and run it except through a back way.   ideas???

THANKS!! Anything??You may need to boot to safe mode[hold down the f8 key on boot and disconnect from the net after loading files to  floppy/disk] to run this ......>>>>>http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/
