I've tried restoring back to factory default but still have the same problem, this is the first time I have had this kind of problem. Do I have to re/format
My system is Windows xp service pack 2. When it shuts off it reboots automatically again and performs a scandisk and fixes them but it still shuts off RANDOMLY and does it again

When scandisk runs does it find any errors and fix them? Could be you need to replace your drive, but with this amount of information we can only guess. Download and run the diagnostic software from your hard drive manufacturer's website.
