Answer» Hey, for the past few months I have been having problems with my computer freezing. Not too long before I put some new RAM in and not too long after I put a new video card in, Im thinking the problem would probably be the RAM but the problem with testing it is that it doesnt freeze up in any particular pattern, it MIGHT run fine for 2 months, and then start freezing up again all the time and then go back to running normally.. any suggestions? It is getting pretty frustrating and would really like to have it fixed soon. Go to http://www.memtest.org/ Download - Pre-Compiled package for Floppy (DOS - Win) to your desktop. Have a formatted floppy disk ready. Unzip the downloaded file then CREATE the floppy as directed. Make sure your Floppy Drive is selected as 1st boot device in bios. Reboot your computer with the floppy in the drive and let it run for a few hours.Sadly, I dont think I have a floppy disk anywhere right now, but I know about a week after it started I ran a memory test and let it do about 3 scans and it all checked out ok with the new memory in thereActually, I looked at some of the screenshots on that website of memtest.. thats the same thing I usedWhat did you use to run a memory scan ? ?It was that memtest that FED told me to useShould I post more info on my system?Download, unzip, install and run Everest Home Edition Everest

Are you running a Firewall?*NOTE* System memory is usually at 1GB, I just took out the other stick that I put in not too long before my computer started having this problem to test if it would still freeze without it.

I'm going to leave it out for a week or so and then order some more if it does turn out to be the problem. Its frozen twice with the new stick out now, so I stuck the new one in and took out the old one.. it froze up even faster.. also with the new stick out when I played Call of Duty 2 it froze for the first time.. 2nd I was browsing the internet, any more suggestions?Maybe found the problem, sometimes when I restart my computer the monitor doesnt get a signal back, everything is plugged in good.. and I know its not the video card or monitor, because on my old video card and monitor it did the same thing.. someone SAID it sounds like the motherboard isnt booting when it does that, so could the motherboard be causing that and the freezing?
