Solve : Compaq Presario R3000 AMD Laptop? |
|
Answer» I have a Compaq Presario R3000 AMD Laptop that used to be my main computer. It started giving me the blue screen every now and then. I forgot what had started happening to it, but I decided to reformat the thing and do a clean install of Windows XP SP2. After the reformat and clean install, windows booted up, but windows did not recognize the cd drive. Also, this PARTICULAR laptop had a dvd driver disc, so I had no drivers for my computer, which means I couldnt access the INTERNET wirelessly. I reformatted once again and did another clean install and Windows recognized the drive. I ran the dvd driver recovery disc, and as soon as it starts to install the laptop blue screens, reboots, and when you turn it back on the computer screen just stays black and will not do anything. This is very frustrating as I loved my laptop. It would be nice to use again. when I run the dvd recovery driverWhat would that be?The laptop came with a separate dvd that contains the drivers. The actual windows disc DOESNT install the basic drivers that I need. It just INSTALLS windows. I have to use the dvd to install the drivers that belong to the laptop itself. That includes everything from USB to video, audio, internet, basically everything for the computer to function properly.Did you try to clean CD? Did you notice at what point of installation you're getting blue screen. What does BSOD say?can't read BSOD it goes blue for like 1 second then immediately reboots, no time to read. as soon as it starts to install the first driver, which would be the audio driver. it blue screens.Maybe you need to check your hard drive with free diagnostic tool from your HD manufacturer web site.Well in order for me to do anything with it, I have to reformat the ENTIRE thing and reinstall windows again. I have to do that everytime I try install drivers. It is very frustrating and takes hours just to fail again...I'd check HD, first, because, if there is something wrong with it, reformat won't help.I can't check the HD because the computer will not even boot up until I reformat it and reinstall windows. That diagnostic CD is bootable.I cannot find the diagnostic tool Quote from: Ryoshin on April 28, 2008, 02:52:25 PM I cannot find the diagnostic tool1) Find out what hard drive you have in that machine... 2) Travel to that drive manuf. website and DLoad the FREE diagnostics... 3) Use the DLoaded file to create a bootable CD/DVDYeah well, I finally got access to bios and it has an HDD self-test, tested it and it passed fine. So, it's not the HDD. |
