Solve : Colour laser printer problem?

Answer»

HI
Can anyone help me with a printing problem? I have a HP laserjet 1600 running on Windows XP with service pack 2 installed.
The problem is that when I print a document with a lot of red, the colour is faded at the sides of the SHEET but is perfect in the middle. I am using the correct media including genuine HP toner cartridges. I have tried replacing the cartridge but it still happens. It ALSO happens with yellow but not as noticeable when printing stickers etc - yet if I print a yellow filled box in MS Word , it is perfect. If I repeat this with red ie, a rectangle filled in red, the fading occurs! The other colours seem fine.
It doesn't MAKE sense to me.
Can any one advise?
Thanks
PhilJust as a step of troubleshooting, SINCE it could be that both cartridges were not properly proportioned, do the cartridge dance (yes, I do actually call it the "Carthage Dance")

Take the cartridge, and shake it back and forth (not too hard, its kind of like shaking up a 0.5LBS milk carton). This distributes the contents of the cartridge across, so that the outsides, or inside area, are even, and wont have faded marks on the side or middle.

Just a reminder: Dont touch the drum inside, there should be a flap "hiding" it, that's to prevent light from getting in. A small amount of light isn't bad, but, prolonged exposure is a bad thing. (The round bar thing inside)
Hi
Yes, I had already tried that but to no avail.

Any other ideas???
