Solve : Cloud Storage Suggestions?

Answer»

Anyone have any suggestions for a good reliable and free cloud storage option. The options I am aware of are Amazon and Googles cloud storage, but I have never used cloud storage. Up until now I have used my private FTP server of my own either LINUX based for best security or WINDOWS Home Server.

Instead of wasting electricity with an idle FTP server, I have decided that maybe its best to use cloud storage.

The application is mainly to share video messages between myself and my family from locations were hotels offer free internet, but not enough bandwidth to skype without problems or as is the case most of the time, hundreds of users at the hotel all on the free internet and choking the bandwidth to a CRAWL that is just a hair faster than dial up.

The hotel does offer 4 megs of download bandwidth by 1 meg of upload bandwidth for $24.99 per week, but I refuse to pay that crazy amount of money to the hotel for the many weeks that I spend out there a year and so for the last 5 years that I get stuck out there on business, I have avoided paying for the extra bandwidth and still able to video message with my family by posting video files to a FTP server and upload and download them through that trickle of bandwidth which they give as a teaser to try to hook people into paying for it as well as being able to state that they have FREE WIFI in their advertisement.

So I feel that using a cloud storage for the first time makes sense now... just hopefully it wont time out on an upload transfer that takes 45 minutes to transfer a 25MB file. With my private FTP solutions of years past it never timed out, it just trickled the data between the hotel ROOM over the internet and down to my FTP server which was on a faster bandwidth connection.

You can't go wrong with Google Drive. I've been using it for years for business and am very pleased. And you get 15GB storage for free!!!I suggest adrive.com.  I've used it for a few years and find the free account quite useful for personal use.  Thanks for responses... never heard of adrive before.
