Solve : Cleaning computer?

I've got a computer from work that was going to be thown away. It is very very slow and full of stuff that I don't want. I'm going to let my young daughter use it non-internet for her older games and such. I WOULD like to wipe this unit CLEAN except for the operating SYSTEM. I think it's WINDOWS XP but I can't even get that far on it to tell for sure.
