Solve : Changing Workgroup?

Answer»

Hi there, I have a group of workstations connected by a LAN network using various workgroups, the question is: May I change the workgroup of any machine on the network remotely? if it's possible, houw could I do it?

Thanks and best wishesHi.

You need to give us some more information. How many machines and what Operating Systems they RUN would be a good start.Right, I have 83 workstations and WINDOWS XP Professional EDITION SP2 in every machine. Is it any way to change the workgroup in a workstation through the network?Their are several programs like remote desktop that would allow you to access XP computers and i BELIEVE it possible to make the changes but any change to a computers workgroup would require a reboot.
You could tell it to do a restart but you could not remotely login to the computer again until after it had been logged back into locally on the computer itself. You would also need to reset the permissions locally for it to allow remote access once you changed its designation. OK, I'll try it thanks
