Answer» I'm running Windows XP I have a HP DVD burner. When I put in a new CD my PC doesn't recognize that there is a new Cd in the DRIVE. When I go to My Computer and refresh "my Computer" it still shows what Cd was originally in. It only recognizes it when I load the whole PC. When I try to install a game or something I can't use the second disk of my program.
hopefully some one can help?It only recognizes it when I load the whole PC? Yes the whole PC. It doens't recognize it at ANYOTHER time I put a cd in the CDROMThat means after changing the CD you have to reboot the system.
Rightoyes that is correct. It makes it difficult to install a game/program. I even tried a new Cd rom and still the same problemOkay,
Reboot the system without any CD in your drive.
Now put a CD, does your drive recognize it.no I'm afraid it still doesn't recognize that there is a CD in the tray ! I PRESS the refresh key a billion times and it still doesn't regonize itCheck your cdrom in your device manager. That means there is something wrong with the lens of your CD.
Try the CD cleaning softwares.
Try opening the cabinet and pushing the wires.
Last try another CD drive, this will let you know whether there is a problem with your drive or not.
