Answer» To all who have answers! Please! My COMPUTER has suddenly stopped "seeing " the DVD and CD Drives! What gives? More information needed.When i look at the My Computer window, both the E and D drives are missing. Neither the CD Rom or the DVD are there, they open and close but when i place a CD in the tray, it does not boot. I have tried the hardware troubleshooting route, with no luck. I purchased a NEW CD drive but the computer does not "see" this one either.Scan for Viruses, Trojan Horses and Spyware.
Do you recall what happened proir to this problem occuring?
Does the device manager detect the devices?

CWshredder -- CoolWebSearch removal tool. Widely known and persistant Hijacker.I have downloaded and run the AVG virus software. It fornd 8 viruses. The device manager does see the the drives but they have the yellow circle with the exclamation mark. I have tried to update the drivers but no luck. After putting the new CD/DVD burner in the device manager does not see it at all.Is this the old winxp system......you may need the reg patch cdgone>read more>http://aumha.org/regfiles.htmIf you just added a second drive it's possible the jumpers are not set properly... I would suggest the Burner set as Master and connected to the END of the cable on IDE2 with the CDRom set as Slave on the middle connector of the same cable.

Remove all CD/DVD burners that do not work from the device manager and restart Windows.
