Answer» I have some firefox extionsion that records stream FLASH video. I was looking for something that could capture with better quality. It seems that it saves it as a flv but, it comes up as file as for the file formatMost capture plug-ins save the actual stream, so the only way to improve quality is to make sure the player is set to give the best stream.
Also, some plug-ins don't add the extension (I know the one I use doesn't), so you have to add .flv to the end of it when you save it or it is just saved as a generic file type. That extension can also be added AFTERWARDS. However, be aware that some sites use MP4 streams instead of FLV.Is there any way to really tell? Im gusseing that a mp4 is a little better quality then flv? Also, looking for something that would record thats not embeded to the browser. By player your meaning the PROGRAM im recording with?Quality isn't NECESSARILY a matter of FLV or MP4. It's a matter of the quality the file was encoded at.
By player, I mean the player on the website. For example, if you capture a stream from Youtube, you get the FLV stream (although there are ways to get MP4 streams from Youtube). If you capture the stream from some other sites, like Daily MOTION, you get an MP4.
