Solve : Cannot upload MS Word?!?

Answer»

For some reason I am unable to upload MS Word documents as an attachment. I am using MS Word 2003 with all of the Hot Fixes that are available (for Office 2003), which I wonder MIGHT be part of my problem. I have tried to upload a Word attachment using AOL and Yahoo Mail. One thing that will work is if I CHANGE the format from the default .doc to Word 97-2003 & 6.0/95 RTF *.doc. I would rather save and send in the default format though. Any suggestions?

BTW, I cam upload other files w/o problems, like pictures and .exe.

Dave - are these attempts with 2003 version .doc files being rejected (bounced) or ignored?

I also wonder about AOL and Yahoo too - thinking maybe of how some ISP's block zip files these days.  I do send occasional .doc files myself but that is thru my Earthlink and, generated from Word 2000.

Can't think why the version should matter UNDULY.  No idea right now as to the cause, except for the AOL/Yahoo aspect.Thank you for the quick reply.  What happens is this.  With AOL, the progress bar just keeps going till it REACHES aprox 85%, then stops and logs off (shuts down the AOL program).  With Yahoo, the progress bar just keeps going and going and going...

Have not ATTEMPTED a zip file.

DavidHmmm - funny tho if 97/03 or Word 6/95 works ... but then I assume there you send with RTF extension.

Right now - no idea other than an ISP issue for some wierd reason.

After thought - I wonder if you sent changing extension to .txt and get recipient to change it back?  If it's file code content that's being the problem then that would not work either - but might prove a point!I'm not sure I understand.  What point would that prove?  Let me rephrase ........

If you try and ''cheat'' - and change .doc to .txt - and ask the recipient to change it back to .doc - then we could reckon the extension itself was (maybe) raising alarm bells.

If however with a false extension the file is rejected then - it'd seem that it's content rather than extension, which is being ''seen'' as ''not permissible".

See what I mean?  Just a matter of interest really....  trying to work out why a file is being difficult to transfer on an email.Ok. I got it now.  Thank you for taking the time to explain that to me.
