Solve : Can't Connect to AOL IM?

Answer»

I've been trying to figure out why I can't connect to AOL IM. I'm also having a hard time connecting to MSN IM. Also, when I TRY to connect to Google Earth I get the same results. I'm wondering if this is a firewall problem or something. I've tried everything.Have you scanned for viruses and Spyware? What firewall do you have? Have you tried adding the programs to your program safe list? Lowering your security level?

Everything? Then why do you ask?

You have to be more specific.I've checked for virsuses and spyware, but nothing. It seems like each program I have that needs to connect to a client, is unable to connect. The error code I get for Google Earth is "c000000c"  Not sure what that means. I've checked my firewall and that also is disabled. I'm not sure what to do. Quote

Can you surf the web?

Can you download and upload files?

What type of NETWORK and connection do you have?I can surf the web. I can download and upload files, and I have a DSL connection running on Windows XP.Have you disabeled the Windows XP firewall?

Are you connected to the Internet through a Router or other type of hardware firewall?Try uninstalling and reinstalling AIM. As for MSN IM, lets hold off on that for now. It is not UNUSUAL for the MSN server to be out occasionally. I have problems connecting to it all the time lol

[glb]Flame[/glb]I've disabled the firewall, and I don't think it's MSN. I haven't been able to connect to MSN Messenger for awhile. I'm not going through any router. This computer is at HOME and has a direct phone line to my computer.I mean the Windows XP firewall, not the software firewall. Assuming you have Service Pack 2 installed. When I install the service 2 pack, I am unable to connect to the internet. I'm not sure why. Quote

Might be the Windows XP Firewall.

Or you are using an illegal version of Windows XP.Definately NOT illegal. I'm using the windows version that came with the computer.
