Solve : Can't back up files!?

Answer»

Man I am getting so f***ing frustrated with this crap!I just started school and I am trying to save my  assignments and so forth and my computer won't let me!
1.When I try putting a floppy in,it won't go.It's LIKE it's jammed or something.I know there's nothing in there because I took a floppy out then immediately tried to PUT another one in.
2.So...I try to transfer them to CD,but when I click on "copy files" then select the drive from the list,I get this error message: D:/ is not accessible-invalid function.

Please help!I didn't back up anything from my last computer, and I lost a lot of important things.1) Buy a new floppy drive.
2) Is your D drive a burner?
3) Email your assignment to a friend as an attachment & get them to save it to disk for you.1.Don't have the money for anything right now.Just paid for school.
2.Yes-I have no problems with burning music.
3.Most of my friends live (or lived) in New Orleans. The ONES that don't either live in other states or are computer illiterate or don't have one at all.Any which way,I really need to be able to do this here.It happens many times that floppy formatted with one os doesn't open on another machine with different OS.

You can try the viceversa.

Format the flopy in your machine and then go to him. Quote

2.Yes-I have no problems with burning music.

Copy the DATA onto an empty CD or use a copying program other than of Windows XP.Upload them to your ISP, they would probably be safer there than on your own computer.Have you moved this computer lately?

Have you looked for loose wiring inside the casing?

Does the floppy drive light come on when starting the computer?

New floppy drive about $9

Don't copy to the drive, try dragging and dropping. Then right-click on the drive and choose to burn files to CD.

DeepBurner does a free CD burner program in case you are stuck.

Are the file attributes and permissions set correctly?I had some bad floppies a while ago. The friction padding came loose on the inside and jammed the disc. Had to get them exchanged for another make.
