Answer» Can Search Engine Spider Track URL redirect? I would think that any programmer of a spider could make it so that the spider would search for redirects, but you should also know that the spider does in fact look at the source and may be able to see it no matter what. Which source code are you talking about. Because the former page (The URL before redirection) and the latter page (the URL after the redirection) may have different code. In that case whatever page (the former one or the latter one) is being spidered by the engines, the owner of the webpage will always want the latter page to be spidered. Note that : (if you are not aware of this): The purpose of URL redirection is : If a webpage owner has posted the URL of a page to different places (advertised) and later he decides that he don't want that URL to be shown to people anymore, then he will use URL redirect. Another reason to use redirect is : if you have a badly named URL (that you have already posted to some places)and now want to change it, because you may feel that people will easily remember the URL with an easy-to-spell and SHORT URL. |
