Solve : Can not upgrade hard drive on windows 10.? |
|
Answer» About two weeks ago I upgraded a Windows 7 install to Windows 10. The Windows 7 install was a 64 bit version that I had used before. I was act titivated properly. But one PROBLEM I did not anticipate. I did the upgrade to Windows 10 while the Windows 7 was on a 80 GB hard drive. I meant to use one of my 500 GB drives. You can clone a HDD to an external enclosure...you should have one...you just can't boot it from external.Did it! Took hours! Had to find a good free backup software that would work right. At last I used Macrium Reflect and it did the job, but the way I though it would. I made an image of the small drive and did can restored it to the larger drive. I keep the size the same. Fix that later, if needed. Some forums report you lose the activation. But mine is valid. This question is not the TR version of Win 10, but the real end of JULY version for update from 7 or 8. See here: http://www.tenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/19448-windows-10-activation-cloning-hdd.html Now I can go to bed. (It is after 10 PM here in California.) |
