Solve : booting my computer?

Answer»

hey guys!

just wondered if any one could help..
Whenever I turn on my computer it GETS to the screen just before the logo on screeen and freezes, I have to turn if off and back on again for it to work.. This means I have to turn my computer on two times everytime.. I dont understand what could be wrong..
Also now I keep getting a error report as soon as I start up saying windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I find if i ignore it everything works fine!

I have done several virus scans, but nothing. Im confused,,,
SheriDo you have any problems STARTING in safe mode? What operating system is installed?

When and how has this problem started?

What virus scanners are you using?

Have you scanned for Spyware?I have Windows XP proffessional
I am not sure how the problem has started, as I do not use my computer much, and when I do turn it on there always seems to be something different wrong with it.
I use McAfee virus scanner, this also scans for spyware.
I have not tried to start in safe mode.. what difference would this make?
Thanks.I have Windows XP proffessional

If it did, it would be called a Spyware scanner. Always TAKE in doubt what these companies tell you.

Using AVG Free instead to see if it can detect any ADDITIONAL problems is a good idea as well.

Virus scanners
AVG Free
-- Anti virus scanner
Trend Micro Housecall
-- Online anti virus scanner.

Anti spy/malware
Microsoft Antispyware
-- Anti spyware scanner. Windows XP Home and Professional only.
Spybot Search & Destroy
-- Anti spyware scanner
Adaware SE Personal
-- Anti spyware scanner

Lessens the chance of something going horribly wrong. Like a nuclear explosion.
