Solve : Blown wire??

Answer»

Hey guys.I really need help. One day,i was playing GTA4 then while browsing my stats in the quit menu it suddenly jammed and crashed.I was really pissed about it so i knocked the mother board on the top.It turned black and there was no display.Feeling slightly agitated i pushed the power button on the motherboard until it shut down.I looked at the back of the motherboard and since i use a DVI cable on my NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ and i was slightly wobbly.I remembered the last time it was reformatted i needed to waggle it a BIT to get it to display anything. But no matter how i twisted it the monitor stubbornly showed black. Now i am using a VGA cable and it works but i am using a standard VGA graphics adaptor.Any hope guys?Is it because my graphics card got shocked?
First off, you hit your PCs case. not the motherboard.

have you ever tried using the little thumbscrews on the sides of the connectors for the DVI connector?

And what do you mean your now using a "Standard VGA graphics adapter?" Did you change your drivers?Open a side panel from the case...
Remove all Power sources and video connections...
Remove and re-seat the vid card...

Connect everything back up and see.

Stop whapping the machine.Hey guys. Thanks for the suggestions but i am 13 years old dont know a THING a bout computers and this is my dads computer. And BC_Programmer when i use the vga wire it says i am using a vga graphics adapter when i select display SETTINGS (im using VISTA).AND lastly i cant open the computer.       EDIT:I have tried the little thumbscrews BC_Programmer.BUMP. Sorry to bump but please??Anyone?Even a little spider??Do as Patio suggested.

Unplug the computer, open the case, and look around to see if anything is not connected properly.

We should never condone hiding anything from authority, I'm sure the father will understand and that the bruises will go away eventually. Quote from: Quantos on August 07, 2009, 10:54:30 PM
