Answer» Hi friends, I just bought a seagate 320GB EXTERNAL hardrive. I want to BACKUP my files from my computer onto It. My QUESTION Is how can I do that with out losing the files on my computer permanently.I use Acronis True Image for my BACKUPS... You should however after creating an image and verifying it as good then burn it to CD's/DVD's...all drives fail...even externals. I backup every Sunday night. Then once a Month i burn the latest image to DVD and delete the other 3. This way worst case scenario i'm 3 weeks away if the entire system GOES down.
The nice thing is completely restoring your HDD takes about 15 minutes as opposed to installing Windows then all your apps ETC...which can take a day or so...Thanks for the reply, I found another way to do It. its as simple as going to my computer... Copy the file or files you want saved from your Internal hardrive than click on the my computer again and find the external hardrive location (in my case drive E) .... and PASTE it. That's all well and good... However if you ever lose a system drive completely you'll be amazed at all the little things you forgot to back up.ok I see your point, I will try Acronis true image. Thanks.
