Answer» At 256Kbps MP3 File how many songs can hold 4GB, I like to know about how many songs will hold on a 4GB mp3 Player, if I rip each song at 256Kbps in .mp3 format. Does anyone know? That depends on how LONG the songs are. Not sure why you are marrying download speed to HDD space. :EDIT: sorry you both beat me to it Quote from: Mulreay on June 29, 2010, 03:45:15 PM Not sure why you are marrying download speed to HDD space. Nobody said anything about "download speed". Mp3 and other multimedia files' bitrates are measured in - guess what? kilobits per second! I stand corrected. Quote :EDIT: sorry you both beat me to itYou're not usually that SLOW are you? Actually the online bitrate calculator I LINKED to was set to give the time duration of a 4 gigabyte mp3 file having a 256 kbps bitrate. Since a 4 GB file is 4294967296 BYTES whereas the space on a 4 GB mp3 player is 4000000000 bytes, the total length of mp3 playing time available will be slightly less. does the audio sampling rate actually matter that MUCH? like a 44100 Hz vs 48000 Hz? |
