Solve : Appilcation failed to initialze message..?

Answer»

Hi I am new here. I am desperate and exhausted, too.

In the last day, I went to use my printer and I got a message that said the application failed to initialize properly. I have tried seeing if the driver is ok..it is working, says my computer. I don't think it's a driver issue, though?
Should I go to Run? I also went to msconfig and can't find the letters the message gave me..the .exe
I have unplugged, restarted, etc. Should I remove and re-install?

PLEASE, if anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate!Frustration4Me......Unfortunately our resident  mindreader has taken a few days off.
If you provide a few DETAILS ....for example ....which operating system are you using ? What is the make and model number of your printer ? What type of printer cable are you using ?

dl65  Thanks for the reply!  I am running Windows XP..my printer is a Lexmark X74-X75. Gateway desktop PC just 2 1/2 yrs. old
Those letters were part of the error message. and followed by.exe
As for the cable, I am ignorant . It is on a surge protector.Start by uninstalling the printer software, reboot and then reinstall it. Some USB printers have to have the software installed first and then after a reboot plug in the printer. I'm not sure if you have a small USB cable or a large parallel port cable (which would plug into the large 24 pin port on the back of your computer - probably purple)OK  the cable is a small white usb.
Thanks and I will try this out. Btw, do I need to unplug everything after i re-install?
Sorry..I am learning ..just takes me time.

ALso, I did unplug last night and right CLICKED on an e-mail. It printed.
But this morning, I went to the Lexmark All- in- One Center to print some papers, and got the same error message.
Their SOLUTION site is of no help.

Thank you for your PATIENCE. Quote

Uninstall, shut off the machine, reboot, install software, reboot and insert USB plug. That should get it.OK, I don't know how this happened but..I was having trouble getting into e-mail, then a song would not stop playing, I lost my temper, and I just shut everything down. When I turned it back on..there was a message from Windows saying they strongly recommened that I let them check a disc.

So I read what they were doing..correcting errors, etc..and after the restart..my printer works again!
I had just been ready to do the uninstall..I have been sick and couldn't get to it yet.

What a strange experience..and it took about 4 days for them to put the message up.
I want to thank everyone here for their help and patience. It is greatly appreciated.

I doubt it will be my first visit here. Quote

Sometimes my keys have a MIND of their own too!

Take care.
