Solve : Any telephone engineers here?? |

Answer» Hi all. Do you mean the things that the phones and modem plug into that then plug into the phone line? Yep! thats them. Could also be a defective phone. Disconnect all phones and wait several minutes. Then reconnect each phone, one at a time, and see if it works. Wait a few minutes between each reconnect and check that it is working before connecting the next. When it stops working, the LAST thing connected is the fubar item. Edit: Don't forget to check fax machines, computer modem used for faxing, alarm system that works through the phone line, etc. We've tried all combinations of phone lines in the house with and without filters, with and without phones, every single line. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't something we did, because BT are coming today. If it's their fault they fix it free, but if it's our fault, which I don't think it is, they charge a lot of money. Thanks for the replies. It's not going to help you now, but when your line is working, you may be interested in dialling 17070 (BT line test). >Here's more info<.Cool, thanks for the link. Thanks to everyone for the replies. BT fixed it earlier and sent a VOICE TEXT to the phone to say it was fixed. Voice texts make me laugh, the guy sounded like the Terminator . . . "The reported line fault has been fixed. Call (some random number) to report another fault if there is one. I'll be back."Hehe, yea they are funny. But we keep getting text messges on our landline from people in Columbia (i think i can guess what theyre trying to sell us ) The text messages sound even funnier when theyre in a foreign language. ChrisI'll be back." COL :-? |
