Solve : Annoying computer message!?

Answer»

Hi guys,

I am currently running Microsoft Windows XP, Home edition, Service Pack 2

I have posted this PROBLEM recently and was referred over to a MALWARE specialist, they were extremely helpful but could not seem to find any malware on my computer. The problem was everytime i BOOTED up my computer i received a message telling me that i NEED to restart my computer because important updates are ready to be installed but everytime i restart the machine i still get the same annoying message only now i receive another message telling me that the ACTION i am trying to do was:

"interuppted by YOUR 447023AE6B\Compaq_Owner"

The first message is not telling me anything about the updates it is just giving me a yes/no option to restart
and then when i click on yes i receive the above message.

I am really sorry to keep annoying you all with this problem but it's driving me nuts so any further help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Can you restart OK to Safe Mode?I would try booting up and going to Add/Remove Programs....then un-install the last 3 or 4 MS KB Updates....they will be listed by date.
Then shut down for a minute or 2 and power up again and see if the error message has gone away.
Chances are if it has gone away the other annoying Compaq message will also.

Wait at least a day to make sure everything is running properly and then log into Windows Update and let it run to completion. Don't run any other tasks and when it finishes power down and power up again (not a re-boot) and see if this solves the issue...Hi again,

I've done what you suggested but the message is still there. Everything seems to be running fine on my machine at the moment - to be honest the message doesn't seem to be causing any major problems now it's just driving me round the twist trying to figure out what it is every time i boot up the machine!! I must be a right pain in the neck so i won't trouble you guys any further (at least not with this problem)!!!

Thank you very much again
LorraineWindows updates??

Aceess the flag (or go to bottom right of your screen where updates is near clock/time) and you can DISABLE automatic updates and that screen will NOT bother you again-it says restart now or restart later, right?

Hope this helpsIf nothing else works you can re format your hard disc drive (HDD)
if you have a disc you can do it yourself or call a local computer technicianHi,

I think i'm gonna have to go down that route - most likely i'm doing something wrong myself so i think i will give a technician a call, but thank you very much and all the other guys who put in their time and patience helping me with this problem. This is a great site and i will be annoying you all again with another problem soon!!

Thanks a million

Lorraie
