hi does anyone know why after u format that it comes up with trying to recover allocation unit and it does this forever i mean hours on end and  then u have to START over with format and all, can anyone help me it had WINDOWS 98 on it and i was reinstalling it to to pc to someone else please helpThe HD is failing.If you see that once, it's bad enough. If you see that several times, plan on heading down to the hard drive store......Yeh it is pretty much beyond rescue, You would need to get another one

Doesn't sound like it's working AND you know you have bad sectors. Don't put off the inevitable. Get a new drive pronto.because its a different hard drive im talking aboutOh, well that's an important piece of info.



The drive must be recognized in the BIOS correctly before anything else can proceed normally. This is not the case is it? I have quit assuming things from you.I only come here for the laffs.
