I am unable to go to misconfig and remove programs from my start up file. I keep getting the message that I am not the administrator and cannot make these changes. I am the administrator and cannot understand why I keep getting this message. This may be a simple (hopefully) issue but it is a huge issue with me. Please help. 1) msconfig is a diagnostic utility. It should not be used to change startup options for other than troubleshooting purposes. Instead, download and run a simple utility designed to do that job, like Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel (http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml)

2) Just as a quick malware test, SEE if you can run regedit and/or task manager.Alian, I am ABLE to do both tasks in your number 2 advice and I will download the program to use to change the start up programs (hopefully). I really appreciate your response as I am not a "techie" person and did not know what to do. Thank you so much. This is my first post so I do not know if I should give you STARS, etc. for your help.
