Solve : acer Extensa 4420 keyboard/touchpad/sound dead?

I have an acer Extensa 4420 that is 2 MONTHS old. It operated fine at my work today. When I brought it home and powered up, the keyboard, touchpad, and sound are all dead. My USB mouse works fine and everything seems to open and close properly. Any ideas?What happened before the problem started?

Any recent downloads/installs/hardware changes/ect....?

I had shut down the unit (from the windows prompt), packed it into it's carry case (as normal), and brought it home.

Any recent downloads/installs/hardware changes/ect....?
I had installed and updated Motorola's Phone Tools while at work. I ran System restore (which removed MPT), but same symptoms.

Has the laptop taken any falls/drops/bangs?
None that I know of.

I have no keyboard, touchpad, or sound control. Battery level does not display. USB mouse works. Device Manager shows errors for Generic PnP monitor, both processors, ATI I/O Communications Processor LPC Controller, High Definition Audio Controller, and UMBus Root Bus Enumerator. All have the error "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware (Code 37)."

Also, have you tried a System Restore to a few days before the problem right now?

No, not to a few days ago; just to earlier in the day (before any work with MPT).
I would TRY to restore to a few days ago.

If that doesn't work, try REINSTALLING MPT and then uninstalling it the normal way (through ADD and Remove Programs).Will do. Thanks for the help.Good Luck.

If it doesn't work, you know where to find us. That did the trick! I restored to the day before yesterday (prior to any Motorola Phone Tools actions) and all is working as it should. I'll see what's going on with MPT this weekend (now that I know there's a potential problem).
