I've emailed myself a file, an exe file. I picked it up on my computer. However, Outlook and the online Hotmail are blocking me from getting this program. I know there's no malicious code; I WROTE the *censored* thing. I can't resend it, because the computer in question is a good 70 miles AWAY. I also can't get the person using the computer to resend the file in a .zip, because she's having other computer trouble. Is there a program or a website that allows me to get around Hotmail's inane block?

Also: Why the *censored* can't Hotmail protect me from porn ads, false order confirmations, chat ads, and other stuff, while it blocks my own damned program??Can you create an email address with your ISP, a POP mail address?Dilbert...

Let's see if I have this right...

You sent yourself an email attachment (an .exe file) and can't open it with Outloook...or Outlook Express...also Hotmail?

If using Outlook Express:

1)  Tools/Options/Security Tab/Uncheck "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus"
2)  Click Apply button and or OK and EXIT saving changes.

If using Outlook 2000:

1) Save a file attachment
Open the item that contains the file attachment you want to save.


Right-click the icon for the attachment, and then click Save As.


In the File name box, enter a name for the file, and in the Save as type list, click a file format.
Note   If the item includes more than one attachment, you can hold down SHIFT and click any number of attachments to save them to the same location. On the File menu, click Save Attachments.

2)  Open a file attachment from within an item
Open the item that contains the file attachment you want to open.


Double-click the icon for the attachment.
Note   An attachment in a message that uses HTML as the message format appears in a separate frame, whereas an attachment in another type of item is included in the text box of the item.

3)  Open an attachment without opening the item
Right-click the item that contains the attachment.


On the shortcut menu, POINT to View Attachments and then click the name of the attachment that you want to view.

If using hotmail:

1)  You should be able to see the attachment...and if you are...right-click on it and save the attachment to your desktop where you should be able to open it.

I also change the extention of such files to .exe.abc before sending

you could send it via an IM service such as MSN, Yahoo, or AIM.
