I have a problem with my laptop i start my laptop and it loads the windows SCREEN but when it get to the log in screen it come up with a blue screen with this writting on

"STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load the hive (file) :
\systemRoot\system32\config\SOFTWARE
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writable.

Beginning Dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your System ADMINISTRATOR or technical support assistance."

Do you have a Windows install disc? (OEM recovery discs usually wont work.)I do not have the discs because they have gone MISSING.
And its windows XP I suggest you find them... you will need them.
Is there anything else that i can use or buy the disc?? would a shop be bale to do??
and what does OEM stand for?? and thanks for the help OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer....in reference to the operating system it means that your CD with Windows will say Acer on it and will contain a liscensed copy of Windows plus any drivers that are needed for the machine.
This is how most laptops ship and also desktops from the large OEM's such as Dell, Compaq and HP for example...

If you can borrow a Windows CD that may be a solution. The version of Windows and the service packs installed must match exactly...for example if you are RUNNING XP Home with SP2 installed then the Microsoft XP CD needs to be the Home Edition with SP2.
