Answer» If you get Vistax64 now there are some sweet/almost free deals out there for the Win7 upgrade... Windows XP Mode for Windows 7 makes it easy to install and run many of your Windows XP productivity applications directly from a Windows 7-based PC. It utilizes virtualization technology such as Windows Virtual PC to provide a Virtual Windows XP environment for Windows 7. Brand new loaded Vista 64bit for under $500. Just waiting for the email from Dell with the 100% free Win 7 upgrade. Edit: They also threw in a free Epson printer. Older printers won't work on Vista 64bit. Quote from: patio on August 14, 2009, 04:34:36 PM How many 16 bit apps do you have that you need to run ? ?Lots.... Quote from: 2x3i5x on August 14, 2009, 04:39:34 PM and if you have VM capable processor, windows 7 has the XP mode so you can get a working XP environment with a simple add-on that you gotta downlod ...yeah, forgot about that. that would workQuote from: Cityscape on August 14, 2009, 10:26:50 PM Lots.... Name ONE that you cannot live without. 16 bit applications are those written for MS-DOS, OS/2 1.x or early versions of Microsoft Windows. I've not yet needed a software that old. You must be living in the stone age if you were to be using those Quote from: BC_Programmer on August 14, 2009, 10:27:49 PM Pacman.....one of my all time favorite GAMES to play in between doing stuff. Use it almost daily. It was designed for.....actually I don't know what OS it was designed for. But it works on DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.1 all the way to XP and I think Vista.and like I said, Windows 7 has the XP mode so you don't have to go hunting for an XP to stick into the VM program.Quote But it works on DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.1 all the way to XP and I think Vista. Then it will run on Vistax64...I'm pretty sure there are "pacman" games that will run on x64 anyway...get a 64 bit processor but the OPERATING system is up to you a 64 bit proc can run 16 32 or 64 bit os |
