Solve : 100% CPU, memory, disk?

Answer»

I had just bought and received this computer on Saturday and I am already experiencing issues where I cannot operate effectively at all. I was hoping someone COULD help me diagnose and fix the problem. Here's the notes:
Runs properly in safe mode
Began occuring after AVG recommended a C: repair
IDT PC Audio is using 600+ mb of memory and 2+ mb of disk
Spoiler subsystem app is using 11.4% CPU, 200+ mb memory, 1+ mb disk
Several system conponents are making up the rest

System specs:
Dell Inspiron 17r 5720
Windows 8
Intel i7-3632qm 2.2 ghz 3rd gen
8 gb ram
Gt630m 1gb nvidia
1 tb had 5400 rpm

I was running AVG but I read that could have been the problem. I am now using avast!

Thank you in advance for your helpIf you've just bought the PC and are already having issues, I would suggest using your warranty and returning it for repair.Quote from: matter92 on July 23, 2013, 10:41:10 PM

Spoiler subsystem app ...
You meant spooler subsystem, right? Have you installed any printer(s)? What does it show in Devices and Printers?

I'm using avast with my Windows 8 laptop; its an HP model.

I wouldn't delay resolving this. I had a problem when I made the initial purchase for my HP laptop. I was burning a set of recovery discs from the recovery partition. This required 6 discs. After burning the 1st 4 discs, the DVD-RW drive stopped working. I had purchased the computer from a local OfficeMax store and the problem I encountered happened within the store's 14 day return or exchange policy. So, I took it back to the store and GOT an exchange and have had no problems with the replacement. If I had not returned the computer to the store within that 14-day time frame, I would have had to pursue the issue with HP and I believe that would have been a MUCH bigger hassle. Yes, my phone changed spooler to spoiler. I'm trying to resolve this prior to sending it back due to the fact that I desperately need it for my classes. below i listed all of the devices. Thank you for your response, all help is appreciated

PDF architect Well, since it's under warranty, call the manufacturer's technical support. If they want to try a remote connection to your computer, I'd allow it in this case. Boot into safe mode, go to the desktop.
hold down the windows logo key and press the R key
in the open box type in, msconfig then click on OK.

From in there go to services and check the box to hide all Microsoft services.
Then go to startup and disable everything.

Reboot.

Does it still happen?
Yes - either system restore your computer to an earlier checkpoint, or restore to factory settings and start again or take it back.

No - start adding in the services a few at a time and keep rebooting and checking. When it starts happening then disable those last few services you start one at a time until you pinpoint the problem. If you manage to get it working fine with all the services running do the same thing with your startup programs.I reinstalled windows, all is fine now. Thanks for your help
