1.

Show that x = 3, y = 2 is not a solution of the system of linear equations 3x – 2y = 5, 2x + y = 7.

Answer»

Given system of linear equations is

3x – 2y = 5 … (1)

2x + y = 7 … (2)

Putting x = 3 and y = 2 in equation (2),

L.H.S = 2 × 3 + 2 = 6 + 2 = 8 ≠ 7 = R.H.S

Hence, x = 3 and y = 2 not satisfying equation (2) which implies that x = 3 and y = 2 is not a solution of the given system of equations.
