1.

Shamu purchased a dozen umbrellas and sold them at a loss equal to the selling price of 4 umbrellas. Find his loss percent and selling price of each umbrella, if he purchased those umbrellas for Rs 9072.

Answer»

Hi friend, here's your answer. ↓

Cost PRICE = ₹9072 for 12 umbrellas
cost price of ONE umbrella = 9072/12 = ₹756

selling price = that of 4 umbrellas
= 4 X 756 = ₹3024

Loss = CP - SP
9072-3024
= 6048

Loss %= L/CP x 100
= 6048/9072 x 100
= 3024/4536 x 100
= 1512/2268 x 100
= 2/3 x 100
= 200/3
= 66.66%

Loss = 66.66%

SP of each ☔ = SP/Total no. of umbrellas.
= 3024/12
= 756/3
= 252

SP of each ☔ = ₹252.

Therefore, Shamu INCURRED a loss of 66.66% and the selling price of each umbrella was ₹252.
