Then Rashmi present age = ( x + 6 ) years.

Five years later,

  • Ritu age= ( present age - 5 ) years = ( x - 5 ) years .
  • Rashmi = ( present age - 5 ) = ( x + 6 - 5) = x + 1

According to question:

Rashmi age = 2 times Ritu age

⇒ x + 1 = 2( x - 5 )

⇒ x + 1 = 2x - 10

⇒ x - 2x = -10 - 1

⇒ -x = -11

⇒ x = 11

Therefore,

  • Ritu age = x = 11 years
  • Rashmi age = x + 6 = 11 + 6 = 17 years
