In order to withstand the mighty British army and to prove to be a disaster to them, Rani Laxmi Bai convened the forum of some spirited individuals like Gulam Gaus Khan, Khuda Baksh, Dost Khan, Lala Bhau Bakshi, Sunder-Mundar, Deewan Raghunath singh, Kashi Bai, Moti Bai and Deewan Jawahar Singh and made them leaders of a battalion of 14,000 rebels to defend the city of Jhansi.

The brave queen fights until death

In 1958, the Britishers attacked Jhansi. Laxmi Bai tied her son Damodhar Rao to her backa nd waged a tough war with the British holding two swords in her two hands. Unfortunately, she had to flee the scene as the fortress was captured by the British army. She moved to the fortress of Kalpi accompanied by many rebellions. There was one another battle in Gwalior. Laxmi Bai fought so bravely till death and became a martyr for the cause of freedom. Ever since she demonstrated her patriotism and courage, she became an icon in the national history as a symbol of patriotism.
