There are three kinds of thermal STRATIFICATIONS. 1.Epilimnion The upper LAYER of warmer water. 2. Metalimnion - The middle layer with a zone of gradual decrease in temperature. 3. HYPOLIMNION The BOTTOM layer of colder water.
