Question 1 :- what is momentum ?Question 2 :-What is impulse

Answer»

αnswers :-

MOMENTUM ::

→ Momentum of a BODY is the product of its mass and velocity.

→ It is a vector quantity

→ It has same direction as that of velocity.

→ Mathematically momentum is given as P = mv

~Where,

  • p is momentum of a body
  • m is mass of that body
  • v is velocity of that body

→ Law of CONSERVATION of momentum states that the total momentum of a body is directly proportional to a system of particles remains CONSTANT unless some external force acts on it.

_____________

IMPULSE ::

→ Impulse is the product of force and time for which it is applied.

→ It is also a vector quantity

→ It is represented by the symbol J ( capital )

           J = F × t

~Where,

  • F is the force applied
  • t is the time interval throughout which force is applied

_____________

More to know :-

What is a vector quantity ?

  • Any physical quantity, which requires direction in addition to its magnitude is known as a vector . They have magnitude as well as direction. They are added or subtracted by the process of vector addition

  • Example : DISPLACEMENT, velocity, acceleration, force, momentum, weight and electric field etc.
