Question :- .In the given POLYGON, BO = 7x + 4 and OD = 18. Find x ?

SOLUTION :-

As from IMAGE we can see that, we have given

→ BC is parallel to AD .

→ AB is parallel to DC.

So, Polygon ABCD is a parallelogram.

Now, Diagonals BD and CA of parallelogram are intersecting at O.

As we know :-

  • The diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other.

Therefore,

BO = OD

AO = OC.

Than,

→ BO = OD

→ 7x + 4 = 18

→ 7x = 18 - 4

→ 7x = 14

Dividing both sides by 7,

→ x = 2. (Ans.)

Hence, value of x will be 2.
