Prove2√5 -3√3 is an irrational

Answer»

ong>Answer:

let 2√5-3√3 is a RATIONAL number

so,

√20-√27= R ( r is a rational number)

SQUARING both side,we get

( √20-√27)^2 =R^2

20+27-2√540= R^2

47-2√540= R^2

2√540 = 47-R^2

√540 =47-R^2/2

as R is a rational number so 47-R^2/2 is also a rational number ,which says that √540 is a rational number and that CONTRADICT the FACT that √540 is an irrational number. Thus 2√5-3√3 is not a rational number but it's an irrational number..
