Answer» The bus can OVERTAKE the car when their displacements are same and bus has more velocity. velocity of bus initially =0=u(bus). acceleration of bus=1ms^-2.
s=0(t)+1/2(1)t^2...(1)this is equation of DISPLACEMENT of bus whereas initial velocity of car=5m/s and acceleration of car =0 ms^-2. So equation of displacement of car is s=5(t)+1/2(0)t^2...(2) equate (1)and(2). we get 5t=1/2t^2 =>10t=t^2=> t=10 seconds . now calculate the displacement from equation(1)=>s=5t=5(10)=50 m. velocity of bus can be CALCULATING the below formula v=u+at here u=0 m/s and a=1ms^-2. v=0+1(10)=10 m/s. answers for first part =>50 m. second part=>10m/s.
