Answer :-

Now as we know in a quadratic equation :-

ax² + BX + c

Sum of roots

= \dfrac{-b}{a}

Product of roots

= \dfrac{c}{a}

Now as GIVEN that the roots are equal .

Let them be "p"

Now putting them in sum and product of roots :-

Sum of roots

p + p = \dfrac{-b}{a} \\\\ 2p = \dfrac{-b}{a}

And product of roots

p\times p = \dfrac{c}{a} \\\\ p^2 = \dfrac{c}{a}

Now as we can see

When p is negative and a is POSITIVE

b = positive

c = positive

When p is positive and a is positive

b = negative

c = positive.

So as we can see SIGN of b is dependent upon p also on a .

But sign of a is always Same as of c

So answer is option (c)
