Answer» Answer: Answer: The atoms of only a few elements called noble gases (Such as helium, neon, ARGON and kryton, etc.) are CHEMICALLY UNREACTIVE and exist in the free state or INDEPENDENTLY. Atoms of most of the elements are chemically very reactive and do not exist in the free state or independently I can give you in short also like. Most atoms of elements do not have octet and they try to attain noble gas configuration , that's why they react and form bonds and cannot exist independently whereas molecules are group of atoms that have form bonds.
