Answer» Let one of the perpendicular side = x Second side = 2x + 4, Area = 80 1/2 × (2x + 4) = 80 2x2 + 4x = 160 x2 + 2x = 80 x2 + 2x + 12 = 80 + 12 (x + 1)2 = 81 x +1 = ± 9 x + 1 = 9 x = 8 x = – 10 cannot be accepted as – ve sign cannot exist for the length of the side ∴ One side = 8cm Second side = 2 × 8 + 4 = 20 cm |
