The rivers do not collect much silt and because of this, and their relatively faster WATER flow, they do not deposit a LOT of sediments on the coast. The peninsular rivers, that flow east from the Western Ghats have to travel a long distance to reach the Bay of Bengal. Their flow is slower and the rivers carry a lot of sediments.
