When Helen was being spoken to about the beauties of foliage, Helen was reminded of a story and wanted to write it down.Thoughts flowed easily and once she had finished it showed it to her family members who were deeply impressed that a girl of such a young age could write such a story.Some even asked her if it was her own.At the time Helen was certain that the words came from her mind and excitedly sent it to Mr Anagnos who was impressed andimmediately published it in the Perkins institution reports.He suggested that Helen rename it from "Autumn Leaves", to "The Frost King",However, her happiness was short-lived because there were accusations that it had been copied from Miss Margaret T Canby's book, "The Frost Fairies".However, Helen could not recall ever reading it or it ever being read to her.Initially, Mr Anagnos was in support of her but a teacher somehow managed to get what seemed like a confession out of her, which made Mr Anagnos feel betrayed.After a trial of questioning by the staff of The Perkins Institute, Helen wept like no other child has to and prayed that she would die.Afterthe incident, Helen was afraid to write fearing that anything she did write would not be her own.Even letters that she wrote to her mother would be in resemblance to poems she had read or heard.However, with her teacher, Anne Sullivan's encouragement, she persevered to write and hoped that one day she would publish something of an original thought.
