光6. A sphere of diameter 18 cm is dropped into a cylindrical vessel of diameter 36 cm partlyfilled with water. If the sphere is completely submerged, then find the water level rises(in cm)

Answer»

Volume of sphere= 4/3 x π x 9³

=972 π

Volume of water in vessel= π x 18² x h

= 324 π h

New volume in vessel = Vol. of sphere + Vol. of water

π x 18² x H = 972 π + 324 π h

324 H = 972 + 324 h (here in RHS and LHS π is common )

324 H - 324 h = 972

H - h = 972/324 = 3 cm

level of water rises by 3cm
