Answer» ʜᴇʟʟᴏ ᴍᴀᴛᴇ! Yes, its possible that velovity if an OBJECT has different direction as compared to acceleration. For example : Assume that you are driving a CAR with velocity of 50 m/s. SUDDENLY you apply breaks due to RED signal. Assume car decelerates with 5 m/s². In this case direction of velocity was forward while acceleration direction was towards backward. Similarly when you throw BALL upwards then same thing happens. Hope you helps
